Both mechanical engineering and automobile engineering are very important nowadays. While mechanical engineering deals with the production of mechanical devices, automobile engineering is concerned with the making of parts and designing them specifically for vehicles or automobiles.

Mechanical engineering is a division of Engineering that deals with the mechanics of physics and science to analyze, manufacture and design mechanical systems. Automobile Engineering is the division of Vehicle Engineering. It utilizes safety, mechanical, software and electronic engineering to produce, design and operate automobiles and trucks in addition to motorcycles.

Mechanical Engineering Course and Career Opportunities

Candidates who seek to join the B.E/B.Tech course in Mechanical Engineering are required to pass class 12 with Physics as well as Chemistry in addition to Mathematics subjects. They are chosen to join this course on the basis of their marks attained in an entrance exam. Individual institutions like the IIT carry out their own exams. Some of the exams that are held for the admission into these courses are IIT-JEE and AIEEE. Students also have the option to appear in State wise as well as National level exams. After finishing this course, students can find jobs with the private or government sector. It is also possible for students to get jobs as Lecturers in colleges. Students of mechanical engineering have an initial salary of around Rs 15,000 - Rs 20,000 a month. With more experience in the field, aspirants can earn as much as Rs 25,000 - Rs 40,000.

Automobile Engineering Course and Career Opportunities

Students who aspire to join the Automobile Engineering course are supposed to have a pass in higher secondary with a background in Science. The students are chosen on the basis of their marks attained in an entrance exam. Some of those exams are- IITJEE, AIEEE, and BITSAT. For pursuing the M.Tech course, the aspirant ought to write the GATE exam. After finishing this course, students can find jobs with service stations, the defense services or in automobile manufacturing firms. It is also possible for students to find jobs as a scientist or researcher. Students of automobile engineering will have an initial salary of Rs.10, 000 to Rs.15, 000 a month. Professionals of this field will have a monthly salary of approximately Rs. 40,000.  Students who have finished their graduation from NIT, the IIT or BITS will get a high salary package. With more experience as well as skill in a particular area, the student will be able to earn more.

Key differentiators between Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering

Automobile engineering is an applied science that includes elements of Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, and Safety engineering as applied to the manufacture and operation of automobiles, buses and trucks.

Mechanical engineering is a very broad field that involves the application of physical principles for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is made up of a number of subdisciplines concerned with the mechanics, kinematics (movement), and energy of physical objects. Practitioners of mechanical engineering, known as mechanical engineers, use principles such as heat, force, and the conservation of mass and energy in contributing to the design of vehicles and aircraft, heating & cooling systems, buildings and bridges, industrial equipment and machinery, and much more.

There are many colleges and universities that offer courses specializing in the area of Automobile. A mechanical engineering degree would give you the necessary educational background to work in the Automobile, aerospace or commercial vehicle industry, and with vehicles being more computerized and electronic, you may also want to consider a degree in electrical engineering.

Mechanical Engineering is the branch that uses the laws of physics, engineering, material science to model the physical systems in the world. Therefore, any system in the world can be studied and modeled by using the laws of thermodynamics, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, etc. though not just restricted to design. Manufacturing the designed products, the process planning is also a subject studied in Mechanical Engineering.Automobile Engineering concerns itself with design, development and production of automobiles i.e. cars, motorcycles, buses, etc. It deals specifically with problems related to Vehicle Engineering Subjects like Internal Combustion Engines, Vehicle Dynamics, Ergonomics, Safety, etc are studied primarily. Thus we can say that Automobile engineering is a subset of  Mechanical Engineering.

Therefore, if you were enrolled in a program with Mechanical Engineering as your major, you will be able to model any machine of mechanism (cranes for example). In a program with Automobile Engineering as your major, these systems will be modeled to higher detail and complexity. The basics of Mechanical Engineering like Mechanics of Solids, Design of Machine Elements, Control Theory are still applicable to Automobile Engineering, as automobiles are machines after all.

Booking in advance for 2016 batch in most of the colleges is going on. So call us and Book your seats, at very modest and genuine rate. !! Seats are limited. Hurry Up!!
