In the History of
Karnataka, the name of Businayana Mukundadas
Sreenivasaiah [BMS] occupies a prominent place in the field of
philanthropy. The Maharaja of Mysore honoured him with the title of Rajakarya
Prasaktha in 1946. He started the BMS
College of Engineering in the same year.
He had foreseen the urgent need for high-quality technical education in
India, even before independence. The
ideals, for which B.M.Sreenivasaiah stood, continues to inspire the inheritors
of his legacy.

Sri.B.S.Narayan, the dynamic
and enterprising son of the founder, took over the reins of the college after
the sad demise of Sri.B.M.Sreenivasaiah. Under his able guidance, the BMS
College of Engineering developed into one of the finest engineering colleges in
the country. He was also instrumental in
initiating International Collaborative Programmes such as cross-cultural
programmes with Melton Foundation, training foreign students under
International Co-operation Division etc

undergraduate courses, BMSCE today offers 13 Undergraduate & 16
Postgraduate courses both in conventional and emerging areas. 15 of its Departments are recognized as
Research Centers offering PhD/M.Sc (Engineering by Research) degrees in Science,
